Day 1.
We flew from London Gatwick (LGW) to Palma airport (PMI) with easyJet arriving for approx 2PM on Monday.
Airport transport bus for €5 each. We had a look around the center of Palma. We decided to go for an italien for our evening meal at il Tano.
The food was lovely but expensive, see photos of our food.
We later checked into our hotel the Sercotel Zurbaran.
Day 2.
We had a breakfast buffet to start the day. They had a selection of:
- cold foods; cheese, meats, cereal, fruit and yoghurt
- hot foods; mini chorizo sausages, scrambled egg, fried egg, bacon, tomato and beans
- bakery selection; mini crossiant, mini ensaimada and mini pain au chocolat
We proceeded to the Bellver castle as our hotel was conviently close. The castle was only €4 each and was well worth doing as it let you learn about the history (available in English) and had a beautiful view of all of Palma from the top. It was not incredibily busy but there were some school groups there at the time.
We later went to the old town and then inside the cathedral.
We went to Es Trasto for a drink, which had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We went to McDonald's, mainly because we wanted to see what was different on the menu and have a beer (which is unavailable at McDonald's UK).
Day 3.
On Wednesday we took the train to Sóller and then the tram to Port de Sóller. We were lucky to get the 10:30am train as we didn't book online and the weather was good so it was busy. We had a great time in Port de Soller, it felt like paradise. We had an ice cream sundae and drink near the beach at Fet a Sóller.
In order to save money we went to the supermarket called EROSKI for our evening meal. We decided on salami and cheese in a mini baguette, crisps and pain au chocolate.
Day 4.
Today, we headed towards Génova, walking through the large open area that's behind Castle Bellver. One of the paths was under maintenance that meant that we had to divert and got lost a few times. We visited the Caves de Genova which were impressive and we were the only people down there.
We later relaxed at the Cala Major beach
.
We went to the supermarket again for the evening meal but choose chorizo and a different cheese instead.
Day 5.
Friday is our last day. Our flight was scheduled for the evening flying vice versa from the same airports but with Wizzair instead of easyJet. During the day we went looking for souveniers in the old town of Palma. We managed to get a small model of the Castle Bellver and a fridge magnet. We then caught a bus to the Palma Aquarium and got there at 2:04PM but unfortunately last entry was at 2PM?!? We were glad that we didn't book in advance. We decided to go for a cocktail near the beach instead which was great.
We later went for a snack as the restaurants started to close near 5PM. The sea was rough and it was a little bit windy.
To conclude, we had an incredible time in Palma, Mallorca. We would recommend to anyone thinking of visiting in the off peak or peak season. The off peak season may be more suitable for you, if you are looking to have a quieter visit and if you prefer the temperatures 15 - 25°C instead of 25 - 35°C. The favourite part of the holiday was visiting Port de Sóller, which I would happily do again.
